Lassana CissokhoDrill Operator, Sabodala Gold Operations

"I am happy since I started and I have gained a lot of experience. I have learnt some English, Wolof, I’ve learnt to operate four machines.

I used to farm but the work I do now has more value. One month’s salary can provide food for my family for a year. This is a great difference from before."

Our Approach to Occupational Health & Safety

Annual independent audit scores show continual improvement. The rate of lost time injuries (LTI) per million hours worked improved by 62% from 2017. And the total recordable injury frequency rate (TRIFR) across our two operating mines was significantly lower than the average of all ICMM member companies in 2019.

0.31 LTI

 per million hours worked

2.18 TRIFR

per million hours worked

Local Employee and Training Programs

We emphasize recruitment, training, progression and promotion of local employees within the regions in which we operate.

Malaria Campaign

To combat the high prevalence of malaria in the Kédougou region of Senegal, Sabodala runs an annual malaria elimination campaign, “Zero Malaria Starts with Me”.
